Yesterday I went biking along the heath, which is quite close to home. Of course this has to be done around the golden hour, to get soft directional sunlight. There were some deer, two very large mushrooms, very out of place in mid-Summer and these nice layers of clouds. They look like wings, but admittedly my fantasy is sometimes a bit enthusiastic. 😉

Loving the Light

This one is a bit older already; not the girl I mean but the shoot. 😉

Funny how you can go back to older shoots and find pictures that should have been published. This one has Nik SilverEfex Pro for postprocessing, a bit of noise, and in fact an inverted vignette in the middle region, which I don’t use much.

Also, I’ve lifted the brightness with a curve so that black is dark gray, and brightness only starts showing at dark gray, so her dress fades off a bit into nothingness. Love the dreamy look of Deirdre.

This is another one of Eleonora the other day. Beautiful hair, lips, looks. Love this one.

Here is an image I took of Heidi a week or so ago. I’m a big fan of Silver Efex Pro, which is free these days; this image was also converted to black & white using Silver Efex, using one of the Film Noir presets as a start.

This shot of Eleonora was a little unconvential, since I took it from a lower angle, which often isn’t that flattering. But in this case it worked really well. The light was quite high up, and also since she’s looking down slightly, the highlights in Eleonora’s eyes were almost invisible, so I did add a soft highlight in both eyes to get back a bit of sparkle (sorry if that makes you think the image becomes less; I always do a blend of making interesting images and adhering to reality, but sometimes making the image nicer is higher on the list).

beach, bw, piano

My girlfriend took this one from me, while we were at Terschelling (one of the islands here in the Netherlands) at the Oerol festival. Near Midsland aan Zee there were around 9 pianos placed on the beach. Most of them were even playable, so that was fun.

Unfortunately the weather was quite rainy, but good enough for this picture. Finally I’m inside one of the photographs on my own site. 😉

One of Xenia the other day. This was shot in her home, the hall on the left of the image letting in some extra light. At times like this though, you thank your camera (Canon 6D) for having such high settings for ISO that are actually worthwhile.

Also a photo of a shoot some time ago, this time postprocessed using Nik’s free effects filters (for Lightroom & Photoshop, amongst others). Thanks to Chanelle for posing.

felicia, indoor, shadow, tattoo

Here’s an older one from Felicia back in November, 2015.

I revisited the shoot pictures, and even though the placing of Felicia is ‘off’ compared to general rules (she’s to the left of the image, while normally she would be more to the right of the image), I still like her soft expression and collection of ornaments.
