Yesterday I had a shoot with Xenia again, almost exactly a year after our previous shoot. This photo was taken in her home just in front of a southwest-facing window (to her back). Natural lighting only.
I did some postprocessing to make her face slightly brighter, to avoid too much contrast.

I photographed this singing robin while out walking in the surroundings of Bussum. I had some time to take several shots; the bird didn’t fly off until after a few minutes. It was the golden hour, the time when I go out cycling or running or walking. The sun color against the tree branch matches nicely with the bird’s color.
I normally don’t post nature shots here, but it might be a nice change sometimes. It seems to work well enough on my Instagram, so I thought I’d post this shot on my site as well.

A week or two ago a dear friend came by, Corine. She’s around 8 months pregnant, almost due. We took a couple of photographs of her, some in combination with her boyfriend.

I recently tried a bit of the double-exposure effect. This works quite effectively when using two silhouette type images. I wanted to start out with this photo though:
That took a bit of photoshopping to invert. Then I took a smartphone shot I took while running of a tree near my home and put that on top. The basic idea is to have a regular background image (the head in this case) and overlay the other silhouette image above that and change the layer blending mode to ‘Screen’.
In practice, I used quite a bit of masking to get the effect constrained to the areas I wanted to. This is what I ended up with:

Here is one from Dané from last Tuesday. Hope you like it.
I used my Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens for a change again. Although I like the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 better, it’s difficult to get high enough to get enough angle to fit most of the body in the shot. 😉
