Throwback time

It’s kind of silly weather today here in Holland; rain and sun that overlap every now and then. Not really cold, but not great to go outside as well. So it was a good time to go through old photographs and shoots.

This picture thus is really an old one, with some new paint. I shot this back in November, 2014, with Renate standing in front of the camera. I took it through Photoshop and Nik to accentuate her light hair, to brighten her eyes a little and to bring out her body a bit better.

So even though the picture is 1,5 years old, the postprocessing is from today.

Here, Renate is lying down in a warm environment. It looks idyllic, however it was around 8.30pm, it was 14 degrees, there was no roof and the place was dusty. 🙂 The apparent sunlight was really a flashlight, and actually the other flashlight coming from the back of her misfired. However, I found it just as sweet, given some corrections for the missing amount of light. Sorry for taking away the romantic side with the description, it’s the end result that has a gentle warm relaxing feel fortunately.

A few weeks ago I followed a workshop from Mark de Roo about lighting on location. It was inspiring, so I read about several types of flash heads and finally decided on a relatively low-cost Jinbei Discovery series.

Last Friday I went out with Renate to have a good at my first real location shoot with flashes. It was around 8pm, this floor actually had no roof anymore, but the ambient light is powered away by the flashes. One DC-1200 from the rear at low power.

Renate was eating dust almost literally, kudos to her for withstanding it to make this picture a reality. 🙂

Going back to a shoot from last year, this is Renate. I’ve added some circular blur in her hair to give it some extra motion.

With a dash of circular blur in the hairs.
